Resilience Book Club: Notes of A Native Son

Written by Apeel Team | Mar 25, 2021 6:55:57 PM

The Resilience Book Club is a series of book discussions hosted by Apeel’s Black Lives Matter Task Force.

It’s become a space for Apeel employees to engage in dialogue around racial justice. The book club aims to apply Apeeler’s literary learnings in our personal and professional lives as we collectively walk the path toward a more just and equitable society.

Last month, in commemoration of Black Heritage Month, our Black Lives Matter Task Force hosted the first discussion of the year on James Baldwin’s book Notes of a Native Son. It was a time for our team members to come together and make space for conversations around racial justice. We had Apeelers from different teams join our virtual discussion, allowing for cross-departmental conversations and sharings.

Our thanks go out to team members who were able to attend this first book club, and we’re excited for our Black Lives Matter Task Force to continue hosting more book clubs exploring topics around liberation philosophy, black history and policy, black memoirs, and contemporary racial dialogue.

We can’t wait for even more Apeel teammates to be engaging in this dialogue and contributing to the fight toward a more equitable society for all.
